FinCEN is issuing a final rule allowing entities to use a FinCEN identifier to report beneficial ownership information of related entities. The rule, which implements Section 6403 of the Corporate Transparency Act, specifies when and how entities must report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to FinCEN. The amendments allow entities to use their FinCEN identifier to fulfill their BOI reporting obligations under 31 CFR 1010.380.

The Final Reporting Rule requires corporations, limited liability companies, and similar entities to report identifying information about beneficial owners and company applicants. The rules aim to facilitate access to BOI for authorized recipients, such as law enforcement and regulators, to counter money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
