This week, we highlight the case of Rafael Alun Trisambodo, a former Official of the Directorate General of Taxation, Indonesia, who was sentenced for corruption, money laundering, and violation of anti-corruption laws.
Between May 2002 and March 2013, Trisambodo and his wife, Ernie Meike Torondek, received a total of USD 1 Mn in gradual gratifications. Trisambodo also received other benefits related to his position as a civil servant, totaling USD 3.9 Mn and EUR 0.9 Mn. In 2015, Trisambodo purchased at least 70 luxury branded bags worth USD 0.1 Mn for his wife. These bags feature renowned brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Gucci. In 2008, Trisambodo and Torondek established the financial consulting firm Cubes Consulting, and four years later, they launched the construction company Bukit Hijau Asri. In 2022, they established the consulting firm Artha Mega Ekadhana, with Torondek serving as the chief commissioner.
